League of Legends Patch 26.18 Shifts Power Back to Scaling Champions
League of Legends Patch 26.18 buffs Ekko, Kassadin, Master Yi, Viego, and Zaahen while nerfing several pro-focused champions.
League of Legends Patch 26.19 is now live, delivering the first round of professional-focused balance changes ahead of Worlds 2026. Rather than completely restructuring Summoner’s Rift, Riot Games has strengthened several potential tournament alternatives, reduced the influence of established meta picks, and adjusted the tools available to top laners and supports.
The update affects 17 champions, with nine receiving direct buffs, four being nerfed, and four receiving broader adjustments. It also changes Teleport, modifies support starter items, expands the Classic roster, adds Arena Augments, and introduces four new Coven and Old God skins.
Patch 26.19 is not the final update planned for the 2026 World Championship. Riot Games describes it as the first round of tournament-oriented adjustments, while Patch 26.20 is expected to serve as the actual Worlds patch. This gives the development team another update cycle to respond if any of the current buffs or nerfs produce unexpected results.
The strategy is relatively cautious. Instead of forcing entirely new champions into competitive play through large statistical increases, the patch improves several fringe selections that could provide more draft variety. At the same time, champions such as Nasus, Nocturne, Poppy, Rumble, Ryze, and Vi are being reduced where their reliability or current performance could limit strategic diversity.

Aphelios is one of the biggest winners in Patch 26.19. His Calibrum Moonshot gains 10 base damage at every rank, while Severum provides stronger healing. Gravitum’s slow now decays to 15 percent instead of 10 percent, giving Aphelios slightly more control over opponents after the initial effect begins to weaken.
Infernum’s Duskwave also receives a one-second cooldown reduction at every rank. Crescendum’s Mini-Crescendum starts at 16 percent attack damage instead of 15 percent, and the minimum scaling point is reached after the ninth chakram rather than the eighth. Collectively, these changes improve damage, sustain, control, and ability availability without altering the basic five-weapon system.
The practical consequence is greater consistency. Aphelios should be more effective with each weapon combination instead of depending as heavily on one ideal setup. He remains a positioning-sensitive marksman, however, and the patch does not give him a new escape tool or additional base durability.
Aatrox receives two focused improvements after earlier Sundered Sky changes indirectly reduced his power. Infernal Chains now has a shorter cooldown at its first four ranks, beginning at 18 seconds instead of 20. The final rank remains unchanged at 12 seconds.
Umbral Dash also provides stronger healing from bonus health. The ratio increases from 1.1 percent to 1.3 percent for every 100 bonus health, giving Aatrox additional value from items that combine offensive statistics with durability. This should make bruiser builds more dependable in extended fights without directly increasing the damage of his primary Q attacks.
For opponents, the lower early Infernal Chains cooldown is the more immediate concern. Failed trades may be followed by another attempt sooner than before, particularly during the middle stages of the laning phase. Players will need to track the ability more carefully instead of assuming that an unsuccessful cast creates a long, safe window.
Kha’Zix receives improvements intended to make his less popular evolution routes more competitive. Unseen Threat deals five more base damage, Void Spike’s evolved slow lasts 2.25 seconds instead of two seconds, and evolved Leap gains 300 additional range instead of 200.
These buffs do more than increase assassination damage. The longer slow gives Kha’Zix better pursuit and team utility, while the additional Leap range improves his ability to enter or escape dangerous situations. Players may consequently have more reasons to adapt their evolution order to the match rather than following the same setup in every game.
Aurora’s The Weirding gains 10 base damage at every rank. Between Worlds also lasts longer at its first two ranks, increasing from 1.75 to 2.25 seconds at rank one and from 2.5 to 2.75 seconds at rank two. The final duration remains unchanged. These changes improve wave clearing and create more time for early ultimate plays.
Draven receives a simpler buff, with his base attack damage rising from 62 to 64. Because bot-lane role quests have increased gold access for marksmen generally, Riot Games wants Draven’s early combat strength to remain distinct even when his passive gold advantage is less unusual.
Elise receives stronger on-hit magic damage in Spider Form and an additional 10 percent attack speed from Skittering Frenzy at every rank. The changes are designed to improve jungle clearing and sustained damage, potentially giving teams another early-game AP jungle option.
Patch 26.19 reduces the cooldown of Teleport obtained through the top-lane role quest. The free role-quest version falls from 420 to 390 seconds, while Unleashed Teleport also becomes available more frequently. The goal is to increase top-lane map influence without making Teleport mandatory from the beginning of every match.
For top-lane players, this creates more opportunities to join objective fights, protect another lane, or return after a difficult recall. The change should be particularly useful to champions that can create pressure in a side lane but still need a reliable method of reaching their team.
However, a shorter cooldown does not automatically make every Teleport worthwhile. Using it for an uncertain fight can still surrender lane pressure or allow an opponent to collect turret resources. The update increases the number of possible map plays, but successful timing remains dependent on wave position and objective preparation.
World Atlas and Runic Compass are also being adjusted. Part of their flat health is being converted into health regeneration, a change intended to help melee supports recover from ranged harassment while making enchanters and ranged supports slightly easier to punish when caught.
This produces a more situational form of durability. Health regeneration is valuable when a support can disengage and recover over time, but it provides less immediate protection during an all-in engagement. Melee supports may therefore have more chances to survive a difficult poke lane and search for an opening, while ranged supports will need to respect direct initiation more carefully.
The planned expansion of Team Voice will not enter testing in North America and Oceania with Patch 26.20 as previously announced. Riot Games has postponed the rollout after additional testing, explaining that the feature has not yet reached the desired quality level. A replacement launch patch has not been confirmed.
Team Voice is intended to expand the existing premade-party voice system so that players can communicate with everyone on their team. Its delay means that regular matches will continue using the current communication options until further notice.
The Classic mode adds Fizz, Graves, Nami, and Nautilus to its playable roster. Arena receives new Augments, three additional Guests of Honor, and another balance pass, while ARAM Mayhem reduces the appearance rate of the High Roller augment and fixes several mode-specific issues.
Four new cosmetics also arrived on September 23, 2026: Coven Janna, Coven Mel, Old God Anivia, and Old God Urgot. These cosmetic releases do not alter gameplay statistics, but they form the main visual content associated with Patch 26.19.
The immediate winners are champions receiving several connected improvements rather than one isolated numerical increase. Aphelios benefits across his entire weapon system, Kha’Zix gains more flexible evolution options, and Aatrox receives better early ability access alongside stronger bonus-health scaling.
The Teleport and support-item changes may ultimately have a wider effect than any individual champion buff. More frequent top-lane movement could change objective preparation, while the shift from flat support health to regeneration may create additional openings for melee engagements in the bottom lane.
Patch 26.19 should be viewed as a transitional update rather than the final form of the Worlds 2026 meta. Patch 26.20 is expected to complete the tournament balance cycle, so the performance of Aphelios, Kha’Zix, Aatrox, and the newly weakened competitive picks will likely determine whether further corrections are necessary.
