Difficulty makes things worse: jump scares are survivable, but the riddles are unforgiving. Sitting in one dark room for half an hour turns tension into frustration, and there is no built-in hint system. Your only options are trial and error or an external walkthrough.
Jumping straight into the newest chapter is tempting, but the game clearly expects order because the story carries over. Use headphones, interact with every object twice, and remember that not all clues look like clues on purpose. Do not start a new chapter right before bed, either. Getting stuck in the final room tends to pull an extra hour out of you without notice.
