Spirit Trials is a short-session action roguelike RPG with procedurally generated battlegrounds, evolving weapons, and permanent material progression between runs.
Spirit Trials is an action roguelike RPG that sends a small spirit through procedurally generated battlegrounds to clear out monster waves and survive escalating boss fights. The loop is simple: pick a form, fight through a short run, die or win, then reinvest earned materials into the next attempt. That cycle carries the entire game.
The app keeps each run short, which matters when you play on mobile. You can clear one full run during a commute without needing to pause for a long session. At the start you pick one of several spirit forms, and that decision determines which spells and weapon types appear later. During a run, you move through a handful of combat rooms, grab temporary upgrades, and then face a boss with telegraphed attacks. The whole session can end in five minutes if you misread the boss—or stretch out if you explore every side path. The map layout changes each attempt, but the arena geometry is mostly rectangular enclosures. That is fine for quick fights, though it makes ranged enemies less interesting to dodge.
I would not call the difficulty curve smooth. Early rooms are simple enough to clear with basic attacks, and then a named enemy appears with a projectile pattern that covers half the screen. Those spikes are not limited to bosses. The visual style is dark but readable; enemy projectiles stand out against the backgrounds, which matters when a whole room fills with telegraphed attacks. The dynamic scaling tries to match your level, but sometimes it misjudges your build and throws a high-armor enemy at a loadout that has no armor-piercing option. Losing that run feels frustrating, because the counterplay exists only if you already know what is coming.
The gear system is more interesting than the standard stat-stick upgrades. Weapons can evolve into new tiers after you collect specific monster drops, and the evolved versions change attack animations, not just numbers. That gives you a reason to farm materials even after you find a comfortable build. But the inventory fills up fast, and the sorting options are limited. I ended up manually comparing base items every few runs, which slows the pace between sessions.
The MOD APK version of Spirit Trials is not for people who hate losing temporary run buffs. The permanent progress hides in the material pool, and that pool only grows if you can survive long enough to collect rare drops. The on-screen controls are functional but feel crowded on smaller phones, so a tablet or an Android emulator gives you more room to move. If you can accept those limits, the game offers a tight session loop and a real sense of build progression between runs.
